No, we do admit, not all of us have 1,000 square foot open floor plan apartments (like Emily) but you can still utilize rugs in the same way regardless. Persian, wool, cowhide/spelling - all are welcomed. Try to keep the rugs on the neutral side, allowing the art to really take command of the room. Use the rugs to break up a space and create pockets, if your space is on the smaller size opt for medium to small rugs to get that eclectic look. This is when you can hit up places like IKEA to save.
