“ We ’ re in the midst of a life-defining economic recovery as evidenced by resources that are coming from Washington D . C . and the State of California ,” noted Councilmember Price . He pointed out that a lot of the construction activity is leading up to the 2028 Olympics and will continue well beyond that time . In the ninth council district , $ 120 million in construction projects are planned , in addition to the $ 26 million Slauson Connect – a community hub project that will include a daycare facility , afterschool programming , a tech center , multipurpose rooms , as well as recreational activities and a business incubator . Slauson Connect is scheduled to be completed in 2022 .
According to Councilmember Price , President Biden ’ s $ 2.5 trillion dollar infrastructure proposal includes $ 600 million earmarked for transportation projects for roads and bridges in Southern California . “ This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity . I think our local businesses – small , minority , women-owned and disadvantaged – should get a piece of the pie because others will .”
