CDABP OUTREACH WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS
“ Navigating City and Metro Contracting Opportunities ,” with Los Angeles City Council President and Los Angeles Metro Board Member Paul Krekorian
On October 5 , 2023 , Los Angeles City Council President and Los Angeles Metro Board Member Paul Krekorian co-hosted a “ Navigating City and Metro Contracting Opportunities ” workshop in conjunction with Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services , which administers the LA Regional Contractor Development and Bonding Program ( CDABP ) on behalf of the City of Los Angeles , LA Metro , and the County of Los Angeles .
The purpose of the webinar was to provide small and diverse contractors with the necessary tools and information to compete for and win public contracts with CDABP ’ s sponsor agencies . Representatives from some of CDABP ’ s sponsor agencies , such as Los Angeles World Airports ( LAWA ), LA Metro , the Department of Public Work ’ s Bureau of Contract Administration ( BCA ), and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power ( LADWP ), participated in the webinar . They discussed , for example , the importance of certifications and the available construction opportunities in their respective departments . In addition , a contractor who benefited from the CDABP , Barbara McGee , CEO of Barbold Services LLC , spoke to attendees about how the CDABP program helped to turn her business around for the better .

Council President Paul Krekorian , who represents District 2 , warmly welcomed attendees and assured them that he is a strong advocate for them on the City Council . Being the son of a micro business owner and a former private sector attorney representing businesses for 20 years , the now Council President emphatically affirmed that he is well aware of the challenges that contractors face and is personally committed to making LA a better place for local businesses .
