CDABP OUTREACH WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS
He said , “ Too often , I see that all of the procurement opportunities that we have tend to go to a small number of very large businesses , and a lot of times , they are not even in Southern California . So , to me , it just doesn ’ t make sense that the City of Los Angeles gives so many of our tax dollars to businesses in North Carolina that could be coming to businesses in North Hollywood instead . It ’ s been a big priority of mine to turn that around .”
In order to expand opportunities for small and diverse contractors , Council President Krekorian collaborated with the City Council to create Compete for LA , which aims to level the playing field for local businesses that can support the region ’ s major sports , entertainment , and cultural events . He urged attendees to take advantage of the new opportunities presented by Compete for LA and those provided by CDABP in the construction industry . “ Let ’ s make this an opportunity for inspiration and engagement , and together , let ’ s build a better future for small contractors ,” said Councilmember Krekorian .
