CONTRACTOR SUCCESS STORY I installations for numerous affordable housing projects in the downtown Los Angeles area , most with an average of 100 units . “ It is our hope that many of the people who start out at the Union Rescue Mission end up in the new affordable housing units that we ’ ve worked on . We feel honored and proud to lend our skills to projects like these , which really benefit the whole community , and look forward to working on many more affordable housing projects ,” reflects Adam . In the last year , the company has also been contracted to complete several cabinetry installations for Apple , Inc .
To fulfill such large public works contracts , Fixed Dimensions hires 5-10 full-time union employees , some of whom are completing apprenticeships . Team members not only receive prevailing wages , but also benefit from Adam ’ s expert mentorship . “ During the last twenty-five years , I ’ ve worked in every facet of the industry . I have built cabinets , sold cabinets , designed cabinets , installed cabinets , reinstalled cabinets , rebuilt cabinets , run all the machines and managed all the crew . Now , I truly enjoy teaching my crew the tricks of the trade .”
Over the next 18 months , Adam and Beth ’ s goal is to double their company ’ s current revenue of around $ 1.5 million , increasing that to $ 5 to $ 7 million within the next five years . “ We want to achieve enough stability to keep our crew employed full-time yearround , which is hard to do right now because projects rarely start on time . We also want to expand our team as we continue to grow ,” remarks Adam . To that end , they are getting all their ducks in a row to be able to pass prequalifications with flying colors .
During their years in business , Beth and Adam have seen a lot of cabinet companies bidding on projects for which they aren ’ t qualified and then getting in over their heads . As Adam sees it , this trend is encouraged by lower-end general contractors , who typically focus only on getting the cheapest price ; he would like general contractors to realize that dirt-cheap bids from less qualified contractors actually cost more in the end , because they invariably lead to issues with quality or timeliness . “ My grandfather always used to say : you can get work done fast and cheap , but it will lack quality , or you can get work slow and cheap with quality , but if you want work done fast with quality , it will cost a little more .”
In a highly competitive field , Fixed Dimensions is already building an outstanding reputation as the best value in the industry . In addition to offering Adam ’ s unparalleled level of experience in all aspects of the trade , Beth and Adam are known for their excellent communication skills , honesty and reliability . “ We pride ourselves in working within the fixed dimensions of a project – delivering quality , on budget and within the timeline that each job requires ,” affirms Adam . “ When our team is working on your project , you will never need to babysit . We are professional , knowledgeable and have an extremely skilled crew . We are also passionate about providing efficient , quality work at a fair price .”
