LA CIVETTA May 2016 | Page 30

Welcome to the Società section of La Civetta.

Here you will be able to read about the exciting changes occurring within Italian society at the moment through articles offering opinions and information on current affairs.

Within this edition of La Civetta you will be able to read about the importance of cinema for the community within Bologna and learn how to get involved with the cinema culture to be found within the city. There is also a piece on whether Starbucks, which is to arrive in Milan in 2017, will be successful or scorned by the Italian population.

You will also be able to read about the continuing battle for women to share an equal role with men within the job market. Opportunities are increasing with recent positive changes including obligatory paternity leave and a female candidate running for Mayor.

Further exciting news for the section is the inclusion of two articles from Italian Erasmus students. One article is a personal account comparing the life of a student within a UK university to the Italian university system, offering an insight into the cultural differences that can be hard for foreign students to overcome. The other article is a noteworthy feature on the recent debate about civil rights in Italy; discussing the Sanremo festival where many Italians protested against the fact that Italy is the only EU country to not provide rights for same sex couples.
