24 HOURS IN NAPOLI

BY: FFION WILLIAMS

Aeroporto Follia

10.00am: On your arrival, fight through the crowds and head straight to MO Cafè for the best airport coffee you will ever taste. In Naples it’s traditionally (but not always) served zuccherato (sweetened), so ask for amaro if you like your coffee bitter. Top it off with a freshly baked sfogliatella for the perfect start to your trip.

Chiama un Taxi

10:30am: If you’re lucky, you’ll manage to find a taxi willing to take you to your hotel within 10 minutes (if you manage to find your way to the taxi rank, that is). Once you’re in, make sure to wind the windows down unless you want to bake in the almost 40-degree heat. Use your best Italian conversation skills to

chat to the driver (who will undoubtedly talk to you about the weather).

Esplora le Strade

11:00am: After dropping your bags off at the hotel, it’s time to explore the beautiful streets of Napoli. Just wander around and take in the beauty of the small winding streets, beautiful rustic buildings and local people sat outside enjoying the sun. Don’t worry if you get a little lost; it’s all part of the fun of discovering a new city. Look out for the unique shrines which can be found on almost every street, dedicated to loved ones and saints (not to forget the ones dedicated to the Napoli football legend Maradona).

Naples is a city full of life and vibrancy; the people, restaurants and streets are all filled with an energy and creativity which is unparalleled almost anywhere in the world. It has a reputation of being wild, rightfully so, yet exploring this city is one of the most exciting experiences possible. This guide will not only help you survive a summer’s day in this city, but will also help you enjoy yourself immensely!
