Whilst it was harder to find gluten-free establishments in Venice, several restaurants still showed gluten-free options on signs outside their shops. I managed to find delicious food, although sometimes when choosing the gluten-free option, there was a surcharge.

Mentioned on several gluten-free blogs and food apps, this Italian restaurant offers gluten-free options of pasta and pizza, and even gluten-free bread and gnocchi. If you’re looking for something more varied than fusilli, it is definitely worth seeking this trattoria out.
Gelatoteca Suso @ Calle della Bissa, 5453, Venezia
Similar to Della Palma in Rome, tourists who visit Venice rave about this venetian gelateria near one of the city’s many canals, with people queueing around the corner to grab some of the best ice cream in town. The ‘gelatoteca’ offers gluten-free cones, and all ice cream base recipes are free from any gluten-containing products. However, Suso’s signature wafers are not gluten-free. Nevertheless, it is worth queuing for if you can then find space to sit and eat a tub with a fantastic view of all the gondolas floating down the canal. A perfect Instagram shot!
