Interview with Chloe Bruce-Gadyne
Mantova's Festivalletteratura
The protagonist of this interview is Chloe Bruce-Gadyne, a student of the University of Bristol that worked at the XXIth edition of Mantova’s Festivalletteratura as an Assistant Artist Manager
ARTE, CULTURA & SPETTACOLO
Great, Thank you. I know that during your year abroad you worked at Mantova’s Festivalletteratura - a festival about art and culture that host author from all over the world. What exactly was your role there?
My role was the assistant artist manager for the festival. This basically meant that I helped with all of the organisation regarding the guest artists who were invited to the festival.
Amazing! How did you feel being part of an Italian event?
I was really honoured when offered the role as I know how well-respected the festival is both in Italy and around the world! I was also quite nervous as it was probably the most amount of responsibility I had ever taken on in a job - there was a lot at stake if things went wrong!
Hi Chloe, first of all briefly introduce yourself. What are you studying here in Bristol?
Hi! My name is Chloe and I'm a fourth year student studying Italian
Why have you chosen to study Italian language?
My mother used to work for the British chamber of commerce in Milan, and my father has always worked closely within the Italian wine industry - so I guess you could say that it’s through my family's close connection with Italy that my interest in studying Italian was born.
Yes, I can imagine. What were the things that you liked the most?
In terms of the job itself, I would say the thing I liked most was when the festival arrived and I could see all the hard work we had put in over the months come together and finally get to meet all the artists I had been working with. There was a great sense of achievement for everyone that week. In terms of my experience as a whole, I would say the thing I liked most about Mantova were the people that I met and got to know so well. The atmosphere there is so warm and friendly and everyone I met was so welcoming.
