WHY VISITING FLORENCE IS A

MUST

Bustling Streets. Tranquil Gardens. Historic art. Divine Sunsets. What more could you ask for? Florence has it all.

In a city with so much to offer, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. I’ve chosen the top ten things you cannot miss out on whilst visiting this beautiful city ‘nel cuore di Toscana’.

1

PIAZZALE MICHELANGELO AT SUNSET

This is a must see during the day, but don’t forget to return at sunset. With incredible views across the city and local buskers playing in the Piazza, it couldn’t be a more picturesque setting after a busy day exploring this bustling city. In the Piazza there are many vendors and tourists, with a bronze replica of Michelangelo’s David, a more serene setting to see David than the lively Galleria dell’Academia. Although it is a classic tourist stop, it never fails to capture the heart and the imagination of those who make it to the top of the steps, with a view to die for over the heart of Florence.

SAN MINIATO AL MONTE

Built between the 11th and 13th century, this Church is similar to that of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce in the heart of the city. Although it is a climb to reach this amazing monastery, I promise that it’s worth it. With vast grounds and views to the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio, San Miniato al Monte is a quiet retreat.

PONTE VECCHIO

Although Ponte Vecchio is one of the busiest tourist attractions in Florence, don’t let this put you off. Keep hold of your bags, but don’t forget to take pictures! It’s one of the oldest bridges in Tuscany, the only bridge across the Arno in Florence until 1218, and has had shops since the 13th century; you can’t go to Florence and miss this! I would highly recommend walking over here at night for a stroll to Santa Spirito for dinner.
