Issue Three - Winter 2014

Hello everyone!

It is my privilege, as the editor of La Civetta, to welcome you all to the first issue of the 2014/15 academic year. The most noticeable change this year is our upgrade to the Gold platform of Joomag. This means that throughout the year, there will be no annoying ads on the page, and you can read the magazine on any mobile device (indeed, maybe you already are). For this upgrade we owe a debt of gratitude to Dr Ian Foster at the School of Modern Languages, and to the University of Bristol Alumni Foundation for their generous grant.

We hosted our first ever event in October, a highly enjoyable evening with travel writer Peter Moore. You can find a review of that (in Italian) in the Department section. Elsewhere, among other things, we provide you with some wonderful Christmas recipes to try out during this festive period, and compare the British and Italian Christmas experience, as well as providing some travel tips for the budget-conscious student.

Finally, I’d like to extend a heartfelt personal thank you to all the staff, editors, writers, graphic designers and everyone else involved in creating the magazine this year. Their motivation and effort throughout has been fantastic, and has made my job a lot easier. I’d especially like to single out Ivana Scatola (Co-Editor) and Julia Webster (Graphic Design Editor), who started working towards this issue before the summer, and haven’t stopped since.

And one final, final thank you; to you, for supporting our project and reading La Civetta. I hope you enjoy it.
