Evidently, Catholic bias stems from the Protestant monarchy, even to this day a monarch cannot marry a Catholic according to the Act of Settlement 1701. Although strides have been made in the public sphere, as Catholics are now allowed in public office and universities unlike during the 18th and 19th century, there are still implicit biases shown across the country.
