We keep hearing how companies are struggling to create a " culture of recognition ." What do you believe are the biggest hurdles for Indian companies in achieving their goals on recognition ?
Many companies set ad-hoc goals for recognition and often fail to achieve them I believe that the goals must be articulated well enough for them to be achieved .
First and foremost is an overall philosophy that needs to be defined and have the buy in of all stakeholders . This needs to be followed up with a well thought out strategy , process , goals and tasks to achieve those goals .
Of course , overarching these goals is also the overall budget or spend towards recognition , as well as a good mix of monetary and non-monetary recognition mechanisms and procedures . And finally the implementation and institutionalization of this philosophy plays a key role in determining how successful it is . Ensuring fairness is also key to success .
Any slip-ups in any of the above may do more harm than good .
