Dowry- a Social Evil
' Dowry ' has been the greatest of all our social evils. It has been the greatest stumbling block in the growth and development of women. Dowry is given at the time of marriage by a bride ' s father. It is an old custom in India. But now this system has become a social evil. It is no longer a token of love. It has become a compulsion. A bride who doesn ' t bring ample dowry is mentally harassed and physically tortured. She has to suffer the taunts and scolding of her greedy inlaws. Her life becomes hellish. And sometimes, she puts an end to her life. Some insensitive in-laws become so inhuman that they burn the brides. People never celebrate the birth of a girl child. They consider it a burden. It lowers the status of women in society. We, today’ s youth, must come forward to end this social evil.

A TRIP TO MANALI
Dear Diary, Today I just came to my home from a trip to Manali. I went there to spend my holidays with my family. The way for Manali was very good following the course of the river named Beas. We went there by a mini bus because our family is joint family. First, we went to the Rotangh pass where we did a lot of activities in snow, like yak riding and snowboarding. After that, in the evening, we went to a cottage named Silver Leaves and did our dinner and slept. The next morning, we packed our luggage and got ready for Kullu which is in the way from Manali to Delhi. We went there and spent our whole day at Kullu and then started our journey back home. On the way, we ate parathas at the famous Sukhdev dhaba at Murthal and reached home at 2:30 am. It was the best trip of my life which I can never forget.
