With a changing world come new opportunities

Despite the all-too-visible signs of dark clouds gathering already in the autumn of 2022 , the past year proved to be another all-time high for Kromann Reumert . A year of marked growth , both in turnover and headcount . Financial turmoil , cyber risks , war , but also continued focus on the importance of prioritising the ESG agenda dominate media headlines and many of our dialogues . This requires new types of advice and calls on us to adapt and adjust our business . Only that way can we be sure to keep up with the times and with the demands of clients and employees .
Here in the early months of 2023 , we still see high numbers of corporate transactions and investments , but many processes are progressing at a more challenging pace than we have seen in recent years . We are also seeing increased activity in corporate refinancing . At the same time , we see that new agendas create new demands for legal advisory services , e . g . in the fields of ESG and cybersecurity . As a full-service law firm we monitor the market , new trends and the political scene closely so as to always be up to speed with current trends and able to offer bespoke advice to all of our clients .
Environment , Social & Governance ( ESG ) No longer a project only for the biggest Danish companies , ESG has become an area that all businesses are expected , by the political agenda and public opinion alike , to address and take responsibility for . We have been working with the concept for a few years now ourselves , advising clients on statutory requirements for financial regulation , business ethics and regulatory compliance , energy and environmental law , corporate governance , employee rights , and human rights .
In 2022 , we were among the very first Danish law firms to formally make ESG a practice area in its own right . Heading our team of specialists is partner Maria Holst Levin , who has many years ’ experience as an adviser to the energy sector :
" Society is changing , and demands on us lawyers are changing too . We need to understand and help elevate that agenda , one element of which is helping our clients navigate the myriad of ESG issues , an area increasingly characterised by so-called hard law ," says Maria .
