Advice on ESG
Assistant Attorney Thea Ballegaard Laursen and Director , attorney Sofie Jensen
Is your organisation ready for ESG ?
Besides working with our own internal ESG initiatives , Kromann Reumert has a clear ambition to contribute to a sustainable future through knowledge sharing and advice . New EU legislation will increase corporate sustainability obligations . Anticipating the new rules , we have action plans in place for easy preparation and implementation .
Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive ( CSRD ). This is the name of the new EU Sustainability Reporting Directive , set to take effect for certain organisations in the 2024 financial year , with reporting from 2025 , and more organisations will be become subject to it gradually .
The new rules resulting from the new directive – and from other Commission-proposed legislation – are numerous and will impact Danish and international organisations alike . Among them are the rules of the proposed Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive ( the “ CSDDD ”), which – once adopted – will impose on certain organisations an obligation to ensure sustainability in their own value chains .
Many organisations are already well underway in their compliance and ESG efforts , whereas others are still struggling to come to grips with it all . In a sense , what matters most is getting started .
Sofie Jensen , director and attorney , explains : " Several of the new directives and rules that are coming won ’ t be applicable for another few years . So organisations still have time to get themselves ‘ ESG ready ’, both in terms of resources to be spent and investments to be made . We go to great lengths to help our clients prepare so that they can be ready once the new rules come to have a direct or indirect impact through the client ' s value chain . Our job is to make sure our clients are as well-prepared as possible .”
We will put together an ESG action plan matching your organisation ’ s needs and goals . Items might include , for example :
1 . advice on how to ensure proper embedding of ESG responsibilities within the organisation . Begins with top management and should be included in both shortand long-term strategizing ;
2 . mapping of existing and coming ESG rules and requirements that your organisation needs to comply with ;
3 . mapping of ESG risks and data gaps ; 4 . mapping of existing processes , policies and procedures ;
5 . advising on and drafting of a plan to address ( material ) ESG risks and data gaps ; and
6 . advising on and drafting or updating of processes , policies , procedures and training to ensure compliance with existing and future ESG rules and requirements , as well as mitigating ESG risks and data gaps
Be among the first to learn about new legislation , trends and knowledge sharing in the field of ESG .
