Friday morning is harvest time , and Tsering the cat supervises for Quality Control . Volunteers carefully cut , wash , and weigh the veggies . They are then bagged into family sized portions and refrigerated to maintain freshness . Those with holes or insects go into the wheelbarrow to feed the chickens , whose nutritious eggs are then sold or distributed to families in need . Produce is delivered to our partners , where hungry families can access the nutritious rainbow quickly .
The Poolesville Little Free Pantry offers easy access for families in need , replenishing the outdoor stand multiple times per day .
If you ’ re moved or inspired to share your expertise to learn to grow food , we ’ d love to hear from you . Physical and fiscal contributions are much appreciated . Email Volunteer @ tara . org or visit https :// www . kpcbuddhistrelief . org / get-involved .
