Korzandos: Could you tell us a little about yourself.
Joseph Yankyera: I am Joseph Kusi Yankyera from Kumasi, Asante Mam-
pong. I am a graduate of University of Energy and Natural Resources; completed
this very year. I am currently serving as a teaching assistant in the university.
Korzandos: What is Frontline foundation?
Joseph Yankyera: Frontline foundation is a philanthropic foundation. We
help the less privileged people with challenges; specifically people with financial
challenges. We also help people further their education at all levels. There is also
a future plan where we would introduce a journalistic arm of the frontline foun-
dation. We are taking our inspiration from prerogative of mercy (amnesty). We
will get journalists who would research and investigate if there are still people in
prisons who have been unlawfully jailed. I understand there are some prisoners
who are still in prison not because they committed any crime but because they
have nobody to speak on their behalf. So basically, that’s frontline foundation
and what we do.
Korzandos: Okay, so when did it all start, what ignited the will to start the
foundation?
Joseph Yankyera: It all started when I was in my third year in the universi-
ty around September, 2014. I am a natural achiever. Most of the things I do are as
a result of inspiration. I was inspired when I met a 17 year old girl some few years
ago. She narrated her story and told me about the hardships she had been going
