DON’ T CRAMP YOUR STYLE Cramps are an athlete’ s worst nightmare. Here are tips to prevent them.
MUSCULAR FATIGUE Stretch regularly to prevent cramps. If you feel one coming on, stop and stretch.
OVER-EXERTION Pace yourself during the race because cramps are linked to muscle fatigue. Don’ t push yourself harder than you’ ve trained – rather push yourself longer and harder during training time to be raceday ready.
HYDRATION Keep yourself hydrated and follow this rule: if you’ re thirsty, drink some water.

FOR THE YOUNG ONES The mid-year holidays can be tough if you have young ones to entertain, especially when all you want to do is rest a little yourself. Luckily we have just the solution – let them spend some time in nature, breathe in the fresh air and expend all that energy by taking part in the newly launched BIG5 JUNIOR. This BIG5 Sport Challenge event has been customised for athletes between 12 and 19 years.

Dare2Dash Obstacle Course Here you’ ll be racing against the clock to finish the obstacle course in the best time possible.
TUESDAY 5 JULY
Featherbed 5km or 11km Trail Run: Blue Duiker
This new route is for young and old, but mainly aimed at our younger athletes. All entrants will be awarded with a ranking in their own junior category.
THURSDAY 7 JULY
