Knights Knock Down Stars

Claim District Title

There was no love lost between the two teams competing for this year's TAPPS 6-man District I D. III title.

In the weeks preceding this showdown, many people began to hype the upcoming squad from Wichita Christian as the new team to beat. That coupled with the Stars' #1-state ranking provided this matchup with all the necessary drama leading up to Friday night.

But like all the other previous times the Knights and Stars have faced off, Notre Dame came out on top with a 100-71 victory on Wichita Christian's home field.

"We have been hearing all week that they were No. 1," Notre Dame QB David Salazar told the Times Record News. "Their players were talking noise. The six-man football people had them favored by 35 points. Everybody thought they were just going to run over us. Not today. That didn't happen."

Salazar led the Knights, passing for 222 yards and running for another 156. Teammate Skyler Whitten racked up 191 yards on the ground and 160 yards through the air. Together, the dynamic duo combined for 11 touchdowns.
