JANMASHTHAMI

Janmashthami,

or the ceremony marking the
birthday of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great
fervor in the campus of SIMSR. The Gita Club of
our college took the responsibility of organizing the
event and turned the festival into a memorable
experience for one and all. The celebrations started
at 7 pm on 17th of August in the Activity room which
was being decorated grandly since morning. By
evening, colorful rangolis, streamers and lightings
adorned the activity room which was transformed
into an abode of beautiful idols of Radhe Krishna.
It was a sight to behold!
Once students had gathered, the celebration
initiated with members of Gita Club singing
bhajans. The crowd joined in and sang in chorus.
After that a small skit was presented which
chronicled the birth of Krishna and his childhood
mischiefs. The participants were much appreciated
for their delightful performances. Then, our

honorable Shri Krishna Chaitanya Das who is the
mentor and felicitator of Gita Club delivered a
sermon on the importance of celebrating such
occasions in our daily lives. He used the moment to
interact with students and provided them with his
wise two cents on various issues of an MBA
student's life. Driving the event to its inevitable end ,
we all stood up for Arti. With bells, mridang and
bhajans echoing in the room, everyone was moved
and we all prayed to the The Creator and Sustainer
of this world for his blessings and goodwill on us,
our friends and family. Thereafter, prasadam was
served to one and all.
Students were grateful for the celebration and
shared that such spiritual occasions offered them
respite from their hectic schedule and more
importantly, provided them with the much needed
peace of mind. They say they are already looking
forward to the next Janmashthami !
