Graduation is a special moment for the
students as they step out from the world of
academics to a world where they start
building their future prospects and career.

A management education is considered to be an
overpass to the bonafide world of entrepreneurship
and business. The PGDM and PGDM executive
students at the K.J Somaiya Institute of
Management Studies and Research, were
conferred with this very overpass at the
convocation function held on the 8th of November
2014.
The Convocation ceremony for the PGDM and
PGDM executive students was brought in with
immense zest and gusto where students returned
to their Alma Mater with their beaming dear ones
who proudly joined in the festivity.
The ceremony began with the auspicious lighting
of the lamp and the recital of the prayers followed
by the welcome address. The Director of the
Institute Prof (Dr.) Satish Ailawadi addressed the
students and their parents by delivering a message
highlighting the importance of sincerity and
diligence. The address was followed by the very
enlightening words from both Mr. Ranganathan,
Secretary, Somaiya Vidyavihar and Shri Samir
Somaiya, Chairman, Somaiya Vidyavihar. The
chief guest for the evening Mr. Anil Khandelwal,
board Member GAIL and former Chairman and
Managing Director, Bank of Baroda highlighted the
importance of adversity and challenge, effective
communication skills, time management and
holistic business acumen in his address to the
graduates. He avidly elucidated his journey from
humble beginnings in the banking sector to
Managing Director, Bank of Baroda.
The ceremony commenced at 3.30 pm with the
ceremonial convocation march led by Shri Samir
Somaiya, Director Dr. Ailawadi, Shri Ranganathan,
and with the faculty members of SIMSR following
them. They marched to the convocation area
amidst the loud applause from the crowd of excited
graduate students and their eager parents.
The rank holders for each program were felicitated
and the graduates received their degrees from the
Chief Guest of the evening. The convocation
ceremony culminated with the tossing of the caps
by the graduates when signaled by Shri Samir
Somaiya. The convocation committee proposed
the vote of thanks and this was followed by a
sumptuous high tea. The graduates, proud parents
and faculty left in high spirits.
