Rolf Porter Cocktail Function
The annual Rolf Porter Cocktail function was held on Friday 15 February, the night before the Head of Harbour Rowing Regatta. Over 100 guests including current rowing parents and coaches, rowing donors and the senior crew attended the event.
Head of Rowing John Callie was MC and provided an overview of the current rowing programme. The evening included a special unveiling and christening of the three new Hudson pair / doubles. To ensure the boats maintained a link with local maritime heritage and the fact that Otahuhu was a key water based trading port in New Zealand early history, all three boats were given special names: Matangirua, which means travelling in unison; Tere Waka which means voyaging fast, travelling speedily and finally Te au Kaha which means strong current and / or intense strength.
The three boats received their first outing at the Head of Harbour Regatta and will become a regular feature of the King’ s College Rowing Development Programme.
Headmaster Bradley Fenner also spoke to the gathering and the Captain of Boys’ Rowing, Luke PATERSON( Year 13, Greenbank) and the Captain of Girls’ Rowing, Lydia POOLE( Year 13, Middlemore) introduced the senior crews for the regatta.
Headmaster’ s Garden Party
Over 300 guests attended the annual Headmaster’ s Garden Party, hosted by the Friends of King’ s College, which was held on the Quad on Tuesday 27 February.
Guests were entertained by the String Quartet, Late Night Jazz and Amy ZHANG( Year 12, Middlemore).
Michael Caulton, the President of the Friends of King’ s College welcomed the guests and gave an overview of the work that the Friends do in the community and the plans for 2013. Mike then presented the Headmaster, Bradley Fenner with a cheque for $ 40,000 to go towards the Tom Hellaby Indoor Cricket Centre.
The Headmaster gave an account of the year to date and the plans for the rest of the year and then introduced the senior leaders of 2013, Jasmeet SINGH, Lydia POOLE, Jenny LIM, Luke PATERSON and Michael
WILLIAMS( Sean Glasgow was absent).
King’ s College Golf Day
The King’ s College Golf Day was held for the first time at the Titirangi Golf Club on Friday 8 March, with proceeds going towards building of the Tom Hellaby Indoor Cricket Centre. Eighty-four players took part in the stableford competition where for each playing team the best

three stableford scores for each hole were totalled together to give the overall points scored.
The overall winner of the competition was Team Coverstaff, captained by James Flynn; second was team Warmup captained by Paul Fielding and third was team Geemac, captained by Gordon McKendry.
The day was a great success with over $ 20,000 being raised for the Cricket Centre.
