On the Move : Programming and Robotics

What path will Bluey take to his destination ? Our youngest boys begin to learn coding with physical robots : in Pre-K and Alpha , boys use directional cues to program Beebots to move in a variety of shapes , using buttons on the robots themselves . Second grade boys manipulate robotic sensors in their programming , using software on a laptop to program Dash robots to do such things as move , speak , or light up . Commands used by the boys fit like puzzle pieces to form longer sequences of code .
Our model of gradual complexity ensures that boys master the basics and develop a solid understanding before progressing . As the boys progress , their foundation in coding is then applied to more complex programs including looping commands and conditional code .
