The OPEN Project aims to promote employment, self-employment and the use of international networks to foster employment in SMEs across Europe. OPEN is a collaboration between six Education and Training centres and language schools in France, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

Wicklow FETC is the Irish partner in this Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership for Cooperation and Innovation (adult Education), and is hosting the other partners this week for an action-packed week. This is the fifth meeting of the project.

This project developed out of two previous European projects, illustrating just how ell European activities can lead to ongoing development of partnership and collaboration.

Through the projects:

Teachers will share knowledge and experience; practice teaching languages in real situations and professional environments; get to know about other education, training and employment environments in Europe; develop knowledge about the European job market; increase their personal and professional contacts across Europe.

Learners will improve confidence in language and IT skills; learn the vocabulary of business in the country being visited; become aware of opportunities in different European countries for enterprise and opportunities for free movement of people; make new contacts and friendships.

Stakeholders will develop direct links with teachers and learners and develop better knowledge of how people are trained in the framework for further education and vocational training; develop a network of contacts abroad with schools, students and other SMEs.
