General advertising guidelines
1. the advertisement must be clearly
identifiable as an advertisement.
2. the advertiser must fulfill the
advertised offer as stated in the
advertisement, without limitation,
not altering any offer, product
offers, or prices that are stated in
the ad.
3. advertisements cannot mislead the
user.
4. Advertisements must contain the
advertiser’s company name or
logo.
The following subjects are either
expressly forbidden or allowed under
very limited circumstances. This is not
comprehensive, but should give you an
idea of the sorts of ads you won’t find
in Kids Life.
1. Adult/sexual content - we do not
accept ads that promote sexually
explicit content.
2. Alcohol - we do not permit ads
advertising alcoholic beverages.
3. Brand Endorsement - Ads must not
imply a Kids Life / Leigh López
endorsement or partnership of any
kind.
4. Celebrities - we do not accept ads
that contain photos of local or
international celebrities or other
influential persons if the person
did not approve or give permission
to use their photo in said ad.
5. Controversial Content- Ads must
not contain content that exploits
controversial political or social
issues for commercial purposes.
6. Discriminatory practices- Ads must
not discriminate or encourage
discrimination against people
based on personal attributes such
as race, ethnicity, color, national
origin, religion, age, sex, sexual
orientation, gender identity, family
status, disability, medical or
genetic condition.
7. Fake documents- we do not accept
advertising that promotes fake
documentation of any kind.
8. Gambling- we do allow ads that
promote gambling, wagering or
sweepstakes.
9. Pharmacies- Ads advertising
pharmacies are only permitted
with prior written permission.
10. Religious content - advertisements
that use religious symbols, rituals,
or texts in a mocking or offensive
manner are not allowed.

Slanderous content - we do not
accept advertising that features or
promotes slanderous, libelous, or
defamatory content.
Third-Party Infringement -Ads
must not contain content that
infringes upon or violates the
rights of any third party, including
copyright, trademark, privacy,
publicity, or other personal or
proprietary rights.
Tobacco and Cigarettes - we do
not permit ads that promote
tobacco or tobacco-related
products.
Violence - ads should not feature
graphic images.
Weapons - Ads promoting the sale
or use of weapons; firearms, guns
and components; BB/pellet guns,
stun, and spear guns etc. will not
be accepted. The same for
ammunition, clips, gunpowder,
explosives etc.
Webcams - We permit advertising
that promote webcams and other
surveillance equipment for
legitimate use only.
We have high standards for ads.

Be authentic
Promote content that expresses who
you really are and what you actually
offer. Accurately reflect your product,
service or brand. - Bait and switch ads
(misleading ads that promise one thing
but lead to another) are poor
experiences for our young readers.
Create ads that make you proud
Your ads should be some of the best
stuff people see.
Obey applicable laws and
regulations. Keep it legal!
Advertisers are responsible for
understanding and complying with all
applicable laws and regulations. Failure
to comply may result in a variety of
consequences, including the
cancellation of ads you have placed
and termination of your account.
We reserve the right to reject, approve
or remove any ad for any reason, in
our sole discretion, including ads that
negatively affect our relationship with
our readers or that promote content,
services, or activities, contrary to our
competitive position, interests, or
advertising philosophy.
For policies that require prior written
permission, Kids Life newspaper or
Leigh López may grant these
permissions.
