Eating Roadkill:

9 Easy Steps

Eating Roadkill:

7 Easy Steps

Roadkill is edible and people have been eating it for hundreds of years. If you're squeamish or uneasy about eating it, follow these 7 easy steps and you'll be on your way to a satisfying meal.

Step 1: Overcome Your Squeamishness

While roadkill may not seem like the most attractive option, sometimes you have to eat. If you're on the run, it's the cheapest food source. It's also a chance to try new types of meat you wouldn't normally try. Would you go to the store and buy squirrel, rabbit, racoon, or deer meat? Probably not.

Step 2: Investigate the Possiblities

Look for a network of AWOLs who have more experience eating roadkill. They can give you pointers on how or where to find the better meat and how to tell if the meat is fresh.

Step 3: Know Which Animals Are Most Suitable

Roadkill animals considered most edible:

badger, hedgehog, rabbit, fox, beaver, squirrel, deer, moose, racoon, opossom.

Don't eat rats. Rats are more likely to carry diseases.
