School Editorial
When I stepped into main row on the first day of grade 9, my stomach was a mess. I felt so nervous because I didn’t know what to expect and I knew that it would be a huge change from elementary school. One of the things that I was most afraid of was not knowing where my classes were and getting lost in the school. Now that I think back to that feeling, I laugh at myself because it is so easy to get around and it’s strange that I didn’t know where anything was. I remember being terrified of the older students at GSS because I heard all the stories of being a “minor niner” in high school. However, the stories that I heard before entering high school about being the lowest on the totem pole weren’t nearly as bad as the reality. Sometimes if we were standing in big groups in main row, (like grade 9’s do) the seniors would get a little mad but other than that, they didn’t bother me. By the end of the school year, I felt much more comfortable at GSS and I started to figure out where everything was. I began to know the teachers and created a friendly relationship with them that has gotten better each year. I was still a little bit shy walking down the halls at GSS in grade 9, but as each day went by, it got significantly better. It feels like I have been at GSS for my entire education now, even though I have only been here for 3 years.
