Manchester United - What's going wrong?

As all football lovers should know, Man United´s performance this season has been a disaster. Far away from the Champions League positions and about 15 points behind the league leader Chelsea, the Red Devils are seeing how their fiercest rivals (Liverpool and Manchester City) are playing much better. Lots of people are blaming David Moyes, Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement, for this awful situation but… is he the only guilty party, or are there more reasons to explain this downhill trajectory? Let´s try to analyze all the facts in more detail:

In this dog-eat-dog sport that football is, when a club is playing as bad as Manchester United is doing this season, the first one that is usually in the spotlight is the manager. Moyes, who was named “The chosen one”, hasn’t yet reached the result that was supposed to obtain. Specifically, lots of the critics against him are related with the players that he uses during the matches, who are not the ones that can play better, in supporters’ opinion.

Furthermore, during last summer’s transfer window (and as it seems in January too), Man U didn’t sign the players that they needed to sign. It’s clear as crystal that the team urgently needs a central midfielder with vision and great passing skills, able to generate good pieces of play. Also, another central and right wing defender should be a must, due to the easiness of conceding goals that Manchester United is suffering this season. And of course, the club should keep the best players it has in it, such as Wayne Rooney, who is always subject to rumours about leaving the team.

However, there is a thing that may be the worst problem: the bad sensations and the lack of confidence. As we could see during the Capital One Cup’s semi finals against Sunderland, the player weren’t able to score more than one goal to the last team on the Premier League. Moreover, they arrived at the penalties; and they missed four of them! This is a clear indicator about this lack of trust on their possibilities, problem that can only be fixed with the manager’s and supporters’ support, as well as with victories!

But don’t worry if you are a Manchester United fan! This team’s fame,

history and financial wealth must push all the people involved and related to it to turn around the situation and go back to the top positions. And to make Old Trafford’s crowd feel like the Red Devils again.
