SHEPHERDING A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT DECISION
AN AGENT ' S ROADMAP
Interview with KAIA Member Chris Shepherd of AGC Insure
KIA & B had the opportunity to talk with KAIA member Christopher Shepherd of ACG Insure in Overland Park and discuss his agency’ s decision to partner with a Virtual Assistant( VA) firm, from the“ why” to the“ how”.
WHAT LED YOU TO THE DECISION TO HIRE A VA FIRM?
Shepherd: Recruiting talent is challenging and time-consuming. VA firms handle recruiting, prescreening, and presenting candidates within timelines that align with agency needs. In the past, I’ ve spent weeks posting jobs, screening, and interviewing – with no hires to show for it. The goal was simple: reduce or eliminate as much unproductive recruiting activities as possible.
WHAT WORK OR TASKS DID YOU
WANT A VA TO PROVIDE?
Shepherd: Streamlining and enhancing clerical and post-bind activities and workflows.
DID YOU CONSIDER AN INSURTECH OR AI SOLUTION?
Shepherd: Yes, but I couldn’ t find one that covered the full scope of tasks required. I’ m still open to InsurTech solutions and will continue to evaluate.
HOW DID YOU DETERMINE WHAT PROVIDERS TO TALK WITH AND HOW DID YOU VET THEM?
Shepherd: I leaned on industry peers for initial recommendations, narrowing the list to seven firms.
