INDIETECH SHOWCASE EVENT SUMMARY written by Jon Ross , Flury-Hinderks Insurance Agency

My attendance at the recent IndieTech Showcase in Indianapolis on behalf of the Agency Tech Committee / KAIA allowed for a great chance to meet and learn more about agent technology from vendors and other independent agents across the country .
Networking with technology focused agents will help improve our customer experience , grow our brand and definitely increase customer retention . Meeting directly with tech vendors in the insurance industry also gave me a firsthand experience to build a relationship with key partners while also visually seeing their products in action . The daily agenda , https :// www . indietech2023 . com /, was a nice balance of informative sessions and vendor demos / showcases .
From an agent ’ s perspective , my key takeaways include :
• The CEO Panel focused on platforms working together to add value to the agent experience . “ Standardized ” procedures was mentioned a lot as an opportunity area for growth from previous agent feedback . CEO ’ s acknowledged competing priorities are a challenge from carriers .
• Jim Harris , Disruptive Innovation Thought Leader and bestselling Author , shared insightful data on the advancement of tech worldwide and the dramatically decreasing cost ( VOIP as an example ) compared to efficiency . Also stressed the importance of sourcing & verifying data as accurate before using it with a customer ( e . g ., ChatGPT can be helpful but be careful when using it .)
• CJ Hutsenpillar – an independent agent in Nashville – shared how his agency uses ChatGPT
