ELLIOTT GROUP ADDS CARLTON ; ACQUIRES STEPHENS CHAPIN INS .
KAIA member Elliott Group has announced the hiring of Tom Carlton as Digital Innovation Director and the acquisition of Lawrence-based Stephens Chapin Insurance .
Carlton previously spent 15 years with Nationwide , most recently as a senior territory manager . He has a Bachelor ’ s degree from Faith Bible College and an MBA from Iowa State University . His focus at Elliott Group will be on the agency ’ s online presence , digital branding , and content marketing strategy .
Stephens Chapin Insurance will now be part of Elliott Group ’ s agency operations . Their team will merge with the agency as well , and serve clients in the greater Lawrence area .
CHUBB NAMES CAMP HEAD OF N . A .
Chubb has appointed Annmarie Camp North America Business Development Leader . Currently , she serves as Head of Personal Risk Services for Chubb in Europe . In her new role , which is part of the company ’ s North America Field Operations , Camp will be responsible for providing oversight to the business development team that represents and sells the full range of Chubb commercial lines products and services in the region .
SYMINGTON TAKES HELM AT BIG I
As became effective on May 1 , Charles Symington , executive VP , has taken charge of all day-to-day operations of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America ( the Big “ I ”).
Symington is committed to maintaining the association ’ s preeminent position as the nation ’ s top advocacy group for independent insurance agents , and is focused on strengthening relationships with industry stakeholders , including company partners , state associations and the agent and broker community .
OLIVER SELECTED FOR 2023 CLASS OF LEADERSHIP KANSAS
KAIA Member Alyson Oliver of Kansas Insurance , Inc . in Lawrence has been selected for the Kansas Emerging Leaders ( KEL ) Class of 2023 . KEL is a statewide program to enhance and motivate leaders from various Kansas communities . Each year , Kansans are nominated to apply for the program . Oliver was selected as one of only 20 individuals to participate .
‘ 23 KANSAS MARKETPLACE REPORT
Members and Industry Partners can now access the 2023 Kansas Marketplace Summary Report . Annual data from 2022 is used , which is the most recent available from AM Best Company . The report shows that the Kansas P & C marketplace grew to $ 8.9B total premium , an increase of 13 % over last year . Kansas premium growth outpaced the U . S ., which was 10 %, likely due to increased multi-peril crop premiums which had a one-year growth of 42 %. In addition , penetration rates for independent agents continue to increase with 61 % of premiums being written by IAs ( 82 % commercial / 31 % personal ).
