What about being in the insurance industry drives you ? I feel the responsibility of when our customers are in a tough situation becuase of a claim , to be there and to get them back where they need to be . We have to step up and be our best when our customers could be at their lowest .
What skills or experience do you bring to the association and its members ? I have an open-mindness when it comes down to it . I haven ’ t been in the industry long enough to be set in my ways . I am flexible and always looking for better or more efficient ways of doing things .
When your insurance hat comes off , what do you enjoy doing ? I really enjoy chasing my kids around , going to all their sporting events , along with just hanging out with family and friends .

Why did you volunteer to serve on the Board ? I volunteered after attending events and networking for a couple years and absorbing as much as possible . After seeing what the association has done for me , I knew I needed to assist other Young Agents in succeeding in the industry .
What do you hope to achieve as a board member ? As Young Agent Chair , I hope to inform as many Young Agents of Kansas as possible that the association benefits them as well as agency principals . The education and networking events KAIA offers can be a career changer .
What about being in the insurance industry drives you ? My drive comes from the tradition and sense of community the industry brings . Being a third-generation independent agent , continue the tradition of serving local communities I live and gives a sense of pride and passion that leaves you wanting more .
What skills or experience do you bring to the association and its members ? Time spent in each position of the agency - account manager , producer , now principal - provides an advantage when brainstorming which events and education are most beneficial for each audience .
When your insurance hat comes off , what do you enjoy doing ? Like many other agents , I enjoy hitting the links , specifically a good round of match play and there ’ s nothing better than an emergency nine !

Why did you volunteer to serve on the Board ? It ’ s been so long ago that I am not really sure why I volunteered , but I love being involved and getting to meet new people and learn new things in general .
What do you hope to achieve as a board member ? That I have been an advocate and voice for all independent insurance agencies but mainly the small to medium size .
What about being in the insurance industry drives you ? The people , hands down . I have had the opportunity to serve on state and national boards and have met people from all over . In insurance , you never know when you will cross paths with someone you served on a board with or had contact with on the company side . This is the greatest industry to work for . There are so many career paths within insurance that you can do what you like and find a job opportunity .
What skills or experience do you bring to the association and its members ? I became a board member in the mid- ’ 90s having no clue I ’ d still be serving today . I had a couple years off in between going through the chairs and now serving as national director . I don ’ t know that I bring anything special to the Board other than the willingness and want to help independent agencies grow and thrive .
When your insurance hat comes off , what do you enjoy doing ? High on the list is being Grandma . I love spending time with our soon to be 18 mo . old granddaughter Carly . I
