MEET THE BOARD
doing ? I enjoy working out , listening to music , going to rock concerts , and playing golf . Most of all , I enjoy spending time with our 10 grandchildren and seeing them grow .
DAVID VOGEL
Why did you volunteer to serve on the Board ? I ’ ve developed relationships over the years while serving on the ICC ( Insurance Coverage committee ) and learned more about the business . Lee Gleason , our VP of sales , is coming off the Board , so the timing seemed right . I had been asked to serve in the past and declined because I didn ’ t feel the timing was right . Now it is .
What do you hope to achieve as a board member ? I hope to learn more about the industry , develop relationships , and offer a voice and perspective that will provide value to KAIA as we move forward . I also hope to use my experience to provide additional resources to ProValue Insurance . An independent agency such as ProValue needs to stay out in front of our industry ’ s issues and challenges . The KAIA is challenged with continuing to provide valued resources and services to its members , and I believe I can help with that challenge .
What about being in the insurance industry drives you ? I enjoy being an advisor for my clients and helping my fellow agents develop their skills as insurance professionals . I value being a resource for our agents and helping them win . It ’ s fulfilling to know we handle a relatively complex product / service representing a significant cost for our clients . Like many agents , we ’ ve learned our best clients truly value our expertise and skills and rely on them every day . Relationships matter greatly in our business .
What skills or experience do you bring to the association and its members ? I ’ ve been in sales for 27 years and commercial insurance for 20 of them . I chair the Insurance Coverage Committee , I serve on the Kansas Workers Compensation Assigned Risk Governing Board , and I also serve on the NCCI dispute resolution board . I ’ ve served on my local chamber of commerce Board as
When your insurance hat comes off , what do you enjoy doing ? We have two kiddos – Afton is 11 , and Evan is 3 . I ’ m pretty sure I ’ m an unpaid Uber driver for the 11-yearwell . I have my CIC , AFIS , and CAWC designations , and I ’ m currently working towards a CRM designation .
When your insurance hat comes off , what do you enjoy doing ? I ’ ve chased three kids and their activities over the past 20 years . My middle child is heading to K-State in the Fall , which leaves my 13-year-old son at home , who plays a sport every season . I help coach his traveling baseball team currently . I play a little golf but probably not as much as many of your current and past board members . My wife and I would like to travel a bit more in the future .
JO ERIN STUTEVILLE
Why did you volunteer to serve on the Board ? Initially , I volunteered to serve on the Young Agent Committee to meet people and start networking ( that feels like a hundred years ago ). I agreed to join the Board because I wanted to help find ways the association can add value to our Kansas agents – and add a little female perspective to a primarily male board !
What do you hope to achieve as a board member ? Our association has seen a lot of changes in the past 10 years . I hope that as we have weathered these changes , Kansas agents have seen that we are headed in the right direction and that our association is as strong as ever .
What about being in the insurance industry drives you ? For me , it ’ s all about taking care of people . Insurance can be complicated and frustrating – it is my job to be the educator and guide – and I love it ( most days ).
What skills or experience do you bring to the association and its members ? Because I wear a lot of hats in our agency , I can give the perspective from different views . I don ’ t just represent management – I ’ m a CSR and a salesperson too . This helps give insight when we , as a board , are looking at the services we provide and what we might add to serve our members better .
