The Kansas Association of Insurance Agents( KAIA) has a new leader at its helm. Bryan Schmitz, the President of SBS Insurance Agency based in Seneca, Kansas, steps into the role with a deep commitment to the independent insurance industry and a clear vision for increasing member engagement. With over two decades of experience in the field, Bryan brings a unique perspective shaped by his strong agricultural background, dedication to client service, and a belief in the power of industry advocacy.
A JOURNEY INTO INSURANCE
Bryan’ s path to the insurance industry wasn’ t a direct one. Before entering the field, he managed a store selling industrial supplies. When faced with the prospect of relocating for a promotion, he sought a career that would allow him to stay in his hometown. Through connections and timing, he transitioned into insurance in 2003, working for a recently merged agency that would become SBS Insurance. Since then, he has dedicated himself to building lasting relationships with his clients, particularly in the farming and commercial sectors. In addition, he has played a vital role in the company’ s growth, which now has 25 employees and locations in Axtell, Onaga, Sabetha Hiawatha, Seneca, KS, and Auburn NE.
" I wasn’ t necessarily looking for a job in insurance – I was looking for a job where I didn’ t have to move," Bryan recalls. " But once I got into it, I quickly realized the value of working directly with people to protect their businesses and livelihoods."
