Real-time insurance verification( SB 42 and HB 2047) This bill would establish new law to create a realtime auto insurance verification system by requiring insurance companies to report their books of business to the state’ s new verification system, which could be cross referenced with the VIN numbers of the registered vehicles in Kansas to assist the state in lowering uninsured motorist rates. This system will replace antiquated regulations and the new system would be entirely funded by the Kansas Department of Insurance. Both versions of the bill have passed their respective chambers with differences and will go to a conference committee.
