REVIEWING YOUR TEAM : A NEW APPROACH

KEEPING YOUR STAFF HUNGRY , HUMBLE , & SMART written by Dave Hulcher , KAIA
Often , employee reviews consist of setting goals and measuring performance towards these goals in an analytical way . This may include a number and / or percentage that each employee is measured against , resulting in a “ score ” that assesses their value .
While there is nothing inherently wrong with this scoring , it may leave you without an accurate overall view of the employee ’ s impact . For example , if you have goals of business production , accounts serviced , premium managed , etc . you can certainly get a bottom-line result of that employee ’ s production . But what are their contributions to the team that may be harder to measure ? Are they having a positive impact on others , including your clients and the rest of your team ?
This additional impact may be invaluable , even if harder to measure .
ATTITUDE AND MINDSET
The attitude that a team member brings to work each and every day has a major impact on the performance and ultimate success of an organization . How are you measuring it ? What about their desire to succeed ? And their knowledge - how is that factored in ?
Consider a new approach . Add objective questions info your review to help you correlate the “ soft skills ” with the results . Take a look at this example review form section :
