How did you get into the Industry?
I had been approached by multiple agency owners in our community during the last several years and then was approached with an employment opportunity by the owners of TrustPoint Insurance. The insurance industry, as described by them, sounded like a path that I could excel in, so I took the leap and took my insurance exam a week later and passed … and I haven’ t looked back since!
How do you see the Industry Changing in the next 5-10 years?
I foresee lots of changes in regards of how clients and agents will communicate and interact, how agents will offer new products to consumers and how we can keep up with the ever constant changing industry – technology, I believe, will be the large driving force for this.
Who / What has been your greatest resources in this industry and why?
The knowledge and experience that I have gained through real life experiences has been very beneficial to me in this industry thus far. I take a lot of product knowledge courses and exams to help further my education so that I can be an educated and experienced resource for current and prospective clients.
What is your greatest reward as an independent insurance agent?
The greatest reward for being an independent insurance agent is the opportunity to help people by protecting their assets and being a proactive figure in helping clients plan for their future.
Would you encourage your own children to be in the insurance industry?
Absolutely! This is an industry with so many opportunities!
What advice would you like to share with Principals who have been in the business more than 10 years?
Allow new agents to mentor from you – I believe agency owners are one of the most valuable resources a new agent could have- so share your experiences and knowledge of the industry with the newbies!
What are your future Plans?
My plan is to continue to grow professionally with TrustPoint Insurance. They have allowed me to grow at my own pace while providing me with all the tools that I need to make my career a very successful one and I plan to invest wholeheartedly in the growth of the company while increasing my book of business.
Tell us 3 tips that you would give to an incoming young agent?
1. Do not be afraid to ask questions! 2. Invest in your education by continuing product knowledge courses to keep you on top of your game in this ever changing industry! 3. Network – with friends, colleges, clients, carriers … your circle can never be too big!
