OUTLINE OF THE SESSION - Acknowledge the group, welcoming and apologies Open the group session according to the group norms set, for example: did the group decide to open with a prayer? Before commencing with the group session, briefly discuss the previous session and discuss the assignment given. - Get feedback from the group on anything they feel that they want to share with group. Ask about any highlights or negative experiences. Did they discuss the session with any of their family members or a friend, and if so, how was this received? - Ice-breaker (Binding with wool) - Explain what a life map is - Draw life maps - Each member shares his or her life map with the group, and the group may then ask questions - Closure ICE-BREAKER Binding with wool Materials needed: A ball of wool Activity The goal of this exercise is to bind the group together and to help them to disclose and to see that they are not alone. Participants stand in a circle. The facilitator holds the wool and throws it to a person in the group asking a question such as, "What do you like?" The person answers the question and asks, "Who else likes that?" and throws the wool to that person. The questions can get more intense, such as, "How do you feel today?" and, "What makes you happy?" and, "What makes you sad?" Keep throwing the wool until the whole group is tied up.
