Key Club Newsletter [2016-2017] March & April 2017 | Page 5

Past Events and our Experiences:
“ Making the scrapbook was not what I expected it to be. There was a lot of hard work that went into it. It took a lot of time and effort to finish in time for DCON. We had to colour and draw the backgrounds, carefully border photos and blurbs with construction paper and we had to search for small objects to be placed alongside the events. Putting the whole thing together took the most time, which I was surprised at since it sounded so simple. The scrapbook was completed Thursday, the day before DCON, during EQAO day( thank you execs and Breanna for coming in) with everyone`s help. Special thanks to Arlene, for her artsy insights!
“ At first, the experience was a little intimidating. We weren ' t even able to say " Daily Bread Food Bank " properly! However, the efforts of this volunteering experience made it worthwhile. It was heartwarming to see one gentleman give $ 20.00 to each of our Key Club volunteers, donating a total of 10 bags of canned food and pasta to the cause. I am sure that the continued efforts of this organization( and its generous donors) has improved and assisted the lives of those in need.“

Parent Interviews It was really fun to be able to talk about SCAW and also sell baked goods at the same time! I sat at a table in front of the gym and got to talk to a lot of different parents. Some of them wanted to know about my experience at Harbord so it was convenient and easy to let them know while I was already there.

Youth Leadership The Youth leadership event at Daniel Spectrum was an amazing experience as a volunteer. We got to listen to a speaker who showed us that no matter what life throws our way, we can always make the best of it. It was great to meet a lot of younger students who were willing to participate and to learn how to be a better leader and apply it in their lives.
