Year 6

Junior citizens

The Junior Citizen training for Year 6 involved a visit to Holly Lodge in Richmond Park . After being split into groups , they set to work on a range of different activities . Scenes and scenarios include travel awareness , road safety , first aid , route planning , bus and tube travel , phone safety , cyber bullying , as well as water and fire safety . The replica tube station brings the scene to life and the emergency situations , involving actual phone calls to the on-site emergency services , were very realistic .

Houses of Parliament

The trip to the Houses of Parliament was an ideal opportunity to promote the British Values we follow at Kew College . Democracy , rule of law and mutual respect were intertwined in the stories we were told by our guide as we moved from room to room . The children saw the spectacular architecture of the Palace of Westminster and while standing in the House of Lords , learned how the country is governed , along with a number of stories about the building ' s extraordinary history .
