Introduction
Our world and our country are experiencing unprecedented times. Therefore, PLA wants to assure you that
in our planning to bring our staff and scholars back to school campuses, our laser focus has always been on
putting people first. Your health and safety are of paramount importance to us as we plan to re-open our
school buildings. PLA’s guiding principles include the following:
1. Keep our school communities safe;
2. Continue to serve our students with the highest standards and expectations; and
3. Do our part to slow the community spread of COVID-19.
This “Return to Work Playbook” is designed to provide guidelines, protocols, and best practices for how we
can work together to create healthy school campuses. Since March 2020, our cross-functional teams have
been working tirelessly to study and memorialize recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (“CDC”), the Department of Health and Human (“DHHS”) Services, the World Health
Organization (“WHO”), and local health agencies in the communities that we serve. This playbook addresses
new health and safety procedures and the steps that we are taking to ensure that our campuses are ready to
begin serving scholars.
Using the guidance outlined in this playbook, we have been preparing our facilities for a safe return by
taking actions such as instituting new daily and weekly cleaning protocols, establishing hand sanitizer
stations in areas where soap and water are not readily available, and modifying some of the traffic flow and
common areas in our buildings to increase the ability for physical distancing.
These new guidelines, alone, will not eliminate all risks of the virus. It’s going to take all of us working
together to keep our school communities safe. We must continue to be vigilant, wearing masks and face
shields, taking temperature checks daily, staying home if we are sick, washing our hands frequently, and
maintaining social/physical distancing.
Please note that this playbook is a working document and will be revised as new facts evolve or
circumstances change. Therefore, the policies and guidelines incorporated in this document may change or
be adjusted as the organization deems necessary.
