Policy for School Visitors During a Pandemic Purpose: Under normal circumstances Phalen Leadership Academies welcomes visitors to campus. The COVID-19 pandemic is a difficult time for all of us. Times have changed quickly and dramatically due to the virus. Safety is our number one priority, and we must do everything we can to prevent the spread of this disease and protect our students, faculty, and staff. To minimize risk, our new Visitor Protocol puts strong limits on visitors entering our school buildings during this pandemic. Our Guiding Principles: 1. Keep the PLA community safe. 2. Continue to serve our students with the highest standards. 3. Do our part to slow community spread of the virus where there appear to be outbreaks, so that the most vulnerable people are able to get the care they need. Scope: This policy applies to all visitors without exception in the event of a pandemic or similar health crisis. The term “visitors” include but are not limited to: volunteers, vendors, substitute teachers, parents, etc. Visitor Guidelines: 1. Seek approval from the School Leader 2. Complete the health screening form 24-hours prior to the visit. Arrive wearing a mask. 3. Sanitize hands upon entry. 4. Submit to a temperature check. 5. Comply with physical distancing requirements. Approved visitors may process in through specified entry points to the building. Please note adjustments to the COVID-19 Visitor Policy may be adjusted throughout the year based on our experience with it. PLA welcomes our parent volunteers. We know parent support is a critical component of our community engagement and partnership. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, PLA has suspended parent volunteer activities and parent visitation during the school day until further notice. At times, we know parents may need to drop off an item for their child during the school day. If this situation arises, we will require parents to leave the items at designated points at each building. Please reach out to your specific school for details. 05
