Business and Management | 73 ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE BSc (Hons) Why study this course? This course opens the door to unlimited opportunities in the broad field of business. Studying theory and regulation and then putting it into practice, learning what influences the financial markets and then testing it. With teaching staff from both research and business backgrounds, this course brings the thrilling world of accounting and finance to life. Our course is recognised by global professional accountancy bodies and offers a number of exemptions from their syllabi. You will develop expertise in accounting and finance, through both theoretical and practical study, together with the intellectual curiosity to enable you to make an immediate and effective contribution in your chosen career. Our computer laboratories are equipped with industry-leading software such as Bloomberg, STATA, Thomson Reuters and Sage Accounting Software, providing you with an opportunity to use work-based technologies which will give you the confidence and the skills needed to make you stand out from the crowd.  You can further build on this experience by choosing either a placement year, international year or entrepreneurship year between years two and three of your studies.  You will study accountancy with a specialism in finance, exploring the design and use of accounting and financial systems and how they are affected by individuals, organisations, markets and society. Core financial and management accounting modules will be supported with the opportunity to study specialist topics such as taxation, corporate governance and audit.  Finance modules are designed to introduce and explore the theories leading to the design of financial institutions, the services they provide and the products they sell. Observational and analytical skills will be developed and practiced throughout your study. With the increasing internationalisation of business and capital markets, having completed this course you will have extensive job avenues to consider.
