BA (Hons)
Why study this course?
Keele’s Education and English Literature degree is a perfect combination if you want to
explore and analyse literary texts from different periods of history in depth whilst working
towards a career in education.
In studying English Literature you will explore the significance of texts within
their originating cultures, periods and genres as well as their continuing
influence. You might consider the historical, socio-political, economic, gender
and geographical contexts of fiction, poetry and drama from the Renaissance
period to the present day. You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to
develop your skills as a creative writer, and you can take modules in Film
Studies.
Modules in Education focus on historical, socio-political and economic
influences on outcomes and experiences of education. Education at Keele is
distinctive because of its strong focus on contemporary issues in education
and policy making and the unique combinations offered with a range of
other subjects.
What will this mean for my future?
You’ll graduate with a wide range of skills including oral and written
communication, presentation, and advanced critical competencies. You will
be able to communicate complex ideas effectively to different kinds of
audience, producing persuasive arguments informed by careful research.
You'll be ready to take up a career in teaching, politics, the civil service,
journalism and business. If you are thinking of travelling the world after
graduation or teaching abroad, Keele’s Language Centre offers a variety
