Education and the Student Experience
The student community at Keele is varied and diverse . Keele recruits from across the UK and the world , as well as locally , with approximately 40 % of our students coming from the West Midlands .
Our students have a significant impact on the local community , and their wide-ranging interactions with the community , both on and off-campus , through their studies , their residency and activities such as volunteering , enrich both their experience and the companies , institutions and individuals with whom they interact .
Throughout the course of the pandemic , our students collectively donated over 11,000 hours of their time to support local causes , and charities across the country including the Alzheimer ’ s Society , St John Ambulance and the Samaritans .
Keele has continued to affirm its reputation as a leading institution in the UK , ranking highly among prestigious UK universities in the latest league tables .
In the Guardian University Guide for 2021 , Keele was ranked in the Top 10 in England for student satisfaction with course , with our Medicine course ranking 4th in England behind only Oxford , Cambridge , and Brighton and Sussex Medical School . A number of subjects also ranked in the Top 10 in England , with Physiotherapy and Radiography both ranking 2nd . Other league tables have also recognised the teaching excellence on offer at Keele , with the Complete University Guide ranking our Forensic Science , Medicine , Nursing and Midwifery , and Social Work courses Top 10 in England . Forensic Science retained its No 1 in England ranking in the 2022 edition of the guide , while Medicine ranked No 4 in England .
Keele has consistently ranked highly for student satisfaction of broad-based universities in the National Student Survey and this year is no different , with Keele ranking in the Top 10 in England for student satisfaction ( broad-based public universities ) in the NSS 2021 . Nine Keele subjects have also been ranked in the UK Top 10 for Student Satisfaction , with Medical Technology ranking second in the UK ( No . 1 in England ) and Children ’ s Nursing ranking third in the UK .
