05 Keele Management School News l Summer2015 Success for KMS students in Bloomberg competitions MSc Financial Risk Management students from Keele Management School, Todor Penchev and Savvas Ioannou, won the Inter-University Trade-Idea Investment Competition using the Bloomberg Professional Platform. MSc Financial Risk Management students Todor Penchev and Savvas Ioannou proved their skill in the use of the Bloomberg Professional Platform by winning the Bloomberg InterUniversity Competition. Each competing university team was given a notional cash allowance of £500,000 to invest into the universe of stocks from FTSE 100, S & P 500 and Euro Stoxx 50 market indices. All trades were made in real time and at current market prices using the Bloomberg Professional Platform which made this experience very similar to real-world trading. Participating teams were also asked to provide comments on each trade which reflected the type of analysis that they used: fundamental, quantitative or technical; which Bloomberg functions they used, and any other supporting documents and analytical reasoning for their trade decisions. The performance was measured using the team’s Portfolio Total Return. Todor and Savvas made a profit of £4,777 and obtained 0.96% in Portfolio Total Return. As part of their prize, they were invited to lunch with experts and managers from Bloomberg European Headquarters in London on 17th April 2015. The School’s own annual KMS Bloomberg competition was won this year by Financial Risk Management student Paul Ndikum Fru, with 2nd prize going to Anthony Alles (also Financial Risk Management) and third prize to Finance student Chung Yeung. Here they are pictured with Dr Alena Audzeyeva and Professor Robin Bladen-Hovell receiving their certificates.
