KMS Alumni keen to Bridge the Gap
Bridging the gap between university study and the world of employment is something both students and staff at Keele are keen to do.
Employability and employment skills are much sought-after by students preparing for their career. So it was heart-warming recently to hear from some recent KMS graduates, Bradley Freeman, Lucas Salt, Benjamin Keen and Stephanie Catterall who wanted to come back to the School to help our current students get an insight into the world of work.
Bradley and Benjamin both studied Accounting and Finance; Lucas, Business Management and Finance and Stephanie, Marketing and HRM and since graduating they have all been working in the Foreign Exchange and Money Market( FX and MM) department of the Royal Bank of Scotland( RBS), and they all love it.
Lucas, who now works as Deputy Supervisor in the FX & MM Customer Service Group told us that“ The role is challenging as it combines numerical ability with soft skills such as customer interaction. As such, it is a diversified role and no two days are ever the same. In dealing with large amounts of currency you always have to concentrate and be engaged which is another plus point for me. RBS are an excellent company and have always been a very good employer to work for”.
With very happy memories of their time at KMS( and the excellent degree results which prove how hard they worked) and all enjoying their work at RBS, they contacted us with a range of ideas on how to work with us.
Bradley Freeman, Visiting KMS
Bradley came back to KMS to discuss these with us which resulted in the Bank offering to support KMS students in a number of ways, including work shadowing and help with interviewing skills and assessment centres.
