Going the Extra Kilometre SUMMER PR TOUR 2014 BY REMY GUENIN, ‘86 TRAVELLING WITH THE SUMMER PR TEAM made up of four students: Jared Morado, Rukia Sawyers, Quisa Diamante and Spencer Page, was a trip worth taking. The team met for three days of preparation prior to our grand adventure. Our primary mission was a twofold ministry through service and recruitment. Bright and early on July 20th, we packed up the KC mini-van with as much stuff as we could fit and headed for the ferry in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Stopping overnight in Edmundston, New Brunswick, we continued on our way the next morning and arrived at the ferry Monday evening and boarded without incident. Riding the ferry overnight, we made it to Port aux Basque in good time and continued on our journey Tuesday morning. We arrived at our first destination, Camp Woody Acres near St. John’s, Newfoundland, where we were able to spend some time with the youth of NL and have a few laughs along the way. Taking part in the young adult worship services, bringing music and skits, we were able to share the love of Jesus with the camp meeting attendees. On Sunday, the team had the opportunity to go whale watching, and we even saw a flock of Puffins. Monday marked the last day of our time at Camp Woody Acres, and that evening we boarded the boat back to the mainland. We began this ferry ride from Argentia and endured a 15 hour trip across to North Sydney. Tuesday afternoon we travelled to Moncton, NB to pick up another passenger, Christina Lister, Development Coordinator at KC, who came on board to help with the Alumni Chapter Meeting at Pugwash, NS. The week at Pugwash flew by. We were invited to help with a health fair initiative that was organized by Pastor Dave Hamilton and his wife. We spent the day at the Pictou County Wellness Centre in New Glasgow doing health assessments and sharing information on healthful living via the New Start program created by the Weimar Institute. On Friday we headed to Prince Edward Island where the sand is red and the fields are full of potatoes. We spent the day sightseeing and picking up sea shells and crabs off the beach. After a wonderful day in PEI, we finished out the week and shared with prospective KC students and their families. On Sabbath, we held a Chapter Meeting that was attended by a dozen alumni of Kingsway and Oshawa Missionary College. It was nice to reminisce and share experiences with each other. On Sunday morning we packed up and headed back to Ontario, where our next stop was Camp Frenda in Port Carling, =
