The Girl in the Mask
Sophia lived with her cousin Jack on the farm. She always lived the life of a man. Learning to shoot, wearing breeches, riding horse, even the townfolk started calling her the Squire. That is until her brutal cruel father arrives and Aunt Amelia and Sophia’s happy life is soon put to an end. Jack is taken to the army and Sophia to the bath, where she must learn to act like a lady. Living in the flurry of ball gowns masquerades Sophia seeks revenge. Her father’s brutal ways towards her soon leads Sophia living a double life. At day
she is a lady who vowed to be a
social disgrace and at night she changes her petticoats to breeches and a mask, secretly living the exciting live of a
highway robber. That is until a
particular man takes a sudden
interest in her. Sophia must stay
away from him or risk her secret
identity to the very edge.
This thrilling tale set in Georgian
England is a fast pacing story
and I loved it. Sophia’s
determination to not give in to her
father as well as her sharp thinking
made me smile. I would recommend
this book to any age from 13 and up.
would give this book a four star
rating
